Greetings loves.  Did you know the next two Full Moons are in Aquarius? This is a great window of time to be dancing with the Aquarian themes of this year.

Full moons are times of ripeness and release—also of intensity, which we are no stranger to these days.

Aquarius Full Moon Sabian Symbol

The Sabian symbol for the full moon highlights this potential for intensity right now.  Aquarian energy can be erratic and unpredictable.  Swift, even shocking, changes may strike.  The Sabian symbol for this full moon is the unexpected thunderstorm.

This Symbol shows the need to withstand “storms” and things that whip up unexpectedly. It can show sudden flashes of inspiration, intuition or clairvoyance – those “aha!” moments.

It can be thoughts and emotions that erupt from out of nowhere. They can be brilliant or unstable (or both).

You will likely find that you are suddenly tested or taken by surprise. Inner strength and stability are put to the test but you learn a lot from your experiences.

The effect can be quite liberating, although there can be an initial shock.

Thunderstorms clear the air after an extreme buildup of energy. There can be a sense of awe and wonder at the power of natural events. Sudden visitations of natural wonder. Breakthrough moments. A break in tension in the atmosphere. Thunder, lightning and electricity. The Tower card. Being a lightning rod.

What storms are you withstanding at the moment?

How are you activating inner strength and stability?

What are you learning?

Let’s look at a few further threads of inquiry for this full moon, shall we?

Full Moon in Aquarius:

What is your inner Aquarian releasing?  What may need revisiting?

Release.png

The full moon is a culmination point, a time to release what is ready to be shed in this lunar cycle.  As it’s in Aquarius, you may explore what you’d specifically like to shed around how you are relating to your inner Aquarian facet of self.

To add a layer, Jupiter is returning to Aquarius, retrograde, and will spend the rest of 2021 in Aquarius, expanding and amplifying the energies there.  This is also a time to notice what you may need to revisit in this archetype from earlier this year.

Aquarius contains the themes and energies of LIBERATION, PROGRESS, CHANGE, INNOVATION, REBELLION, QUIRK, COLLECTIVE-MINDEDNESS. Off-balance, Aquarius is check-out, detached, anxious, hyperrational, insensitive, more-digital-than-human, lonely.

In addition to looking at the Aquarian archetype itself, you can personalize this full moon and Jupiter’s return to Aquarius by looking at what HOUSE Aquarius resides in your natal chart.

For example, Aquarius is in my third house, both inviting me to notice what is culminating and ready to release (full moon) as well as what is wanting to be revisited (Jupiter) around the way I do perception, cognition and communication.  How I meet my own thoughts, how I communicate to myself and others, how I think and share.  So the moon is inviting me to release in this realm, and Jupiter may present opportunities for me to revisit some themes around mind + communication.

This moon at 1º Aquarius is also an echo back to December’s Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter at 0º Aquarius.  We may revisit or re-experience some energies from this time, perhaps at their culmination or at a threshold moment.

Let’s look at two celestial signatures also happening in the sky right now. These are both oppositions, which create a resonant polarity, dynamic tension, heightened awareness, and forced awareness in relation to the energies of each planet. Oppositions add depth and resiliency, inviting us to make space for both energies in our psyches and lives.

Venus opposite Jupiter

Indulge.png

While we work with Jupiter in Shamanic Astrology primarily in its conjunctions (when it meets with other planets), we can also explore this opposition between Jupiter and Venus.

This opposition can highlight pleasure and indulgence–– it’s about enjoying beauty, the sensuous—good food, art, music, connection.  This is a time to slow down and revel in the delight of being a human, endowed with senses through which we receive joy and pleasure.  Take care, however, this transit may just compel you into over-indulgence!

In terms of relationships (Venus territory), Jupiter amplifies whatever is there.  So it may heighten harmony or intensify discord, depending on what is already present.  However, generally Jupiter transits are positive in nature.

Mercury opposite Pluto

This opposition creates tension + awareness, and asks us to make space for the dance between our instinctual, embodied ways of knowing and our more rational cognitive ways of knowing.

If you’ve been overly mental or primarily operating from your mind (Mercury realm), this opposition asks you to bring more awareness to your more primal, sensual, instinctive, animal ways of knowing (Pluto realm).

If you’ve been making decisions from your mental body, for example, you are invited to check in with your gut, your instinct, your animal body. Check in with your feeling and sensing ways of knowing, to see what wisdom they bring to bear, before acting, particularly in the realm of communication.

Further, this opposition highlights potential power struggles around communication.  We may see disclosure in our media of what hasn’t yet been seen.  We may see further censorship (now rampant) by the dying-powers-that-be.

The Chandra Symbol for this new moon echoes these sentiments about this “edge that hones the mind and soul”.  Check it out:

Aquarius Full Moon Chandra Symbol

A woman strolling in a garden. She is unaware that she is being watched by elves.

We adopt a split-screen mind when the outward frame of things seems so insistent that we must be reasonable and logical and make complete sense in a quantitative, functional way.

But what happens is that the other side of our awareness, the outlawed side, gets very strong in the subconscious and stays alive. We can almost play off of it in emphasizing our skeptical or worldly approach to things. But there is a joke to it. For you are aware of what you are not aware of –– you are tuned into the very things you deny.

This kind of edge hones the mind and the soul. It teaches invaluable lessons, not the least of which is to make way for the unknown while hugging the known close to you, knowing all the while how profoundly the unknown beckons.

How are you tuned in to the very things you deny?

How do you make space for the unknown?
