Full Moon in Gemini | Lunar Eclipse
Partial Lunar Eclipse + Full Moon in Gemini
30 November 2020
4:30AM EST
Today we have the Full Moon at 8 degrees Gemini and a partial (penumbral) lunar eclipse.
A Full Moon is an opposition between the sun and moon, which forms an axis between two archetypes. So, it’s never just the sign of the moon, but the relationship between the archetype of the moon and the archetype of the sun to consider as we explore full moon energetics.
Today, we are experiencing the polarity between Gemini and Sagittarius, (more on this in a moment). (You might find these in your natal chart to see what houses are being activated for you right now.)
With a lunar eclipse, the sun/moon axis aligns with the South and North nodes of the moon, or the two intersectional points of (1) the moon’s path around earth and (2) Earth’s path around the sun (which to us looks like the sun’s path around the earth).
The Lunar Nodes are our time track, our point of origin and its connection to our destination or destiny point.
Presently, the moon is 11 degrees from the North Node, or destination point, and the sun is 11 degrees from the South Node, or point of origin. And the earth dances between sun and moon.
In my very first astrology reading with him, my mentor Sao shared his belief that, while we each have our personal time track, we share one as a collective—it’s about mastering Gemini, he insists.
We are learning collectively to honor both “twins” of Gemini—light/dark, man/woman, masculine/feminine, thinking/feeling, heart/mind, animal/divine, etc.
The North Node is in Gemini right now, highlighting this aspect of our collective potential.
This eclipse is the first in a pair, with the Total Solar Eclipse New Moon in Sagittarius happening December 14.
You can look at this lunar eclipse as the opening gate to a portal we will walk through, dance through, crawl through, fly through (as you wish) in the next several weeks. It is also the close to numerous astrological cycles beyond the scope of this report.
Let’s return now to the axis of the Moon in Gemini and the Sun in Sagittarius.
Gemini (resonant with Mercury) is about the human mind, its input of the facts, sensory information, and other material. And the stories we tell about all this.
With the moon in Gemini, the facts and stories of our past may bubble up for our consideration. We may experience a resurgence of repressed emotional material and past patterns.
This isn’t to punish us but to provide a pathway for transformation. This is what eclipses make possible. They are portals down, in, sideways and through our own psyches so that we may emerge renewed and more whole, lighter and freer from what no longer serves us.
Eclipses can be Gates of Grace.
But it matters how we meet them.
Opposite this Gemini Moon sits the Sun in Sagittarius, illuminating the truth of our essence, the deeper meaning of all of it. Clarity from the confusion. At the Sagittarian side, we make meaning from the raw experiences of our lives.
We can find great freedom in exploring this axis.
When I make the facts mean _______, what becomes possible? What do I then contribute to life as a result of making this meaning?
At this Full Moon, we are invited to bend with the curves of time, to slow down and witness the space between the facts and stories (Gemini) of the past and the meaning we make of them, the truths they reveal to us (Sagittarius).
Between the Moon and Sun spins our wondrous Earth. This emergent information from the past, now in a portal of Truth, is asking to pass through a few gatekeepers—
One: the earth, your body.
As your system considers the facts, what does your body have to say about them? What wisdom can it share with you? How can it help you release what isn’t yours to carry any longer?
Two: the gate of the heart (Neptune stationing direct, square the nodes)
As you filter these raw materials through your heart, what feelings are evoked? What does your intuition say? What is illusion? What is truth? What becomes clear and what becomes muddled as you pass through the heart gates? What happens when compassion and empathy flood in?
Three: refined feminine frequencies of awakening (Venus opposite Uranus)
What is the higher perspective your soul holds about this emerging information? How can she awaken a higher perspective on matters of the heart? When she holds her values at the center of her being, how does she relate to this information? What becomes possible?
This moment is not one for clarity and action.
It is a time for witnessing, exploring, being curious—sourcing not from what the past would say is probable, but from what the Truth your inner essence knows is possible.
It’s a time to meet and mend what you are being asked to look at and be with.
How we meet the emergent materials of this moment will influence how we move through this pair of eclipse initiations, finish the year and begin anew.
It’s okay not to have it figured out. It’s okay not to have any answers. It’s okay to feel disoriented here. It’s okay to feel tender and turned inside out. Simply stay open.
Meet what you find here with compassion, curiosity, heaps of forgiveness, exquisite tenderness, grief that washes clean, and release like a sigh of relief.
