This is the final eclipse of SIX eclipses in 2020 (we usually have 4 each year). This is the only total eclipse of the year.

This eclipse happens at the South Node in Sagittarius. The south node corresponds with the South Pole of the Earth. This eclipse will be visible only in the southernmost parts of South America. And a bit of the southern parts of Africa and parts of Antarctica.

South Node eclipses are opportunities to witness the old stories emerge to be acknowledged, seen, honored, processed and perhaps revised or released. We can’t change what has happened to us but we can change our relationship to it now and what meaning we make from it about ourselves, others, and the world. This may be stories from our personal lives, stories that are held in our lineage or stories of humanity.

As this eclipse comes at the end of 2020, it is also an invitation to consciously release what you don’t wish to take any further along your journey of life and to consciously claim that which you wish to cultivate in the new year. This is a period to dream in the new, not to act on it. (This eclipse is square to Neptune, the planet of dreams and visions.

This New Moon is happening also near the Galactic Center.

Galactic Center

This is a good time to dream, to go inward. To create space to be with your own beingness and your inner worlds. Bring your curiousity and spaciousness.

Where you put your time, energy and attention during an eclipse is amplified so may sure you are spending your time intentionally. These are times to observe the self and align with your inner truth. This can be a time of revelation and a potent portal of change.

Eclipses can be turning points of moments where we make inner decisions.

New Moon in Sagittarius

A solar eclipse is like an extra potent new moon. Total eclipse is bringing even more energy. With this new moon in Sagittarius, it is important to renew our relationship to the archetypal qualities of Sagittarius within us.

Sagittarius seeks the truth and the deeper meaning of life. It sits on an axis opposite Gemini, which is about the facts and information. Gemini is the mind-based “truth” and Sagittarius is the higher truth, the moral truth, the natural laws.

Sagittarius is wild and free, as is an eclipse on the South Node, asking us to discharge, let go, dissolve and purge what is ready to go.

With all the seeming “facts” on option like a buffet, what is TRUE for you? (Hint: that truth is found inside yourself)

In what ways are the “facts” outside of you a mirror of the truth within you? And how do you relate to what you see here?

This is a time to renew our relationship to our inner truth, what meaning we make out of the raw materials of our lives.

What are the old truths we are ready to leave behind as we move forward?

If it’s not of your essence or aligned with your essence, perhaps it’s ready to be shed.

Can you shed these layers with gratitude in your heart?

How the eclipse will affect you

You might look in your chart for the house of Sagittarius and what planets may occupy this house. This will give you a clue of what specific energies in your life this eclipse is activating. This may be a place that is being rearranged and a place to bring your attention to.

For example, my rising is at 0º Sagittarius, so this eclipse is happening close to my rising/ascendant, which is my current life path, and is in my first house, which is the house of identity and the self. I also have Neptune at 20º Sagittarius, conjunct the new moon, so I have even more energy around my visions, dreaming, visions, empathy, compassion, and the other Neptune themes. This pair of eclipses (including lunar eclipse Nov 30) is also activating my relationship axis (first/seventh house), highlighting my dance between self and others.

Chandra and Sabian Symbols

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

The Chandra symbol for this new moon total solar eclipse is “A veiled statue of Isis.” The one who lives inside is attuned to the heart and soul of ancient wisdom. Will the gifts of soul remembrance be honored or exploited? The divine feminine reveals what we need to know and draws out our highest capacities. Sensing directly into the deepest parts of people and others.

The Sabian symbol for this moon/eclipse is “A bluebird, the sign of luck and happiness, sitting at the gate of a cottage (or standing at the front of a house)” The rewards we meet at every effort to integrate into our social worlds is gained by staying true to ourselves. Positive good will toward others. Allow goodness and joy a place in your dwelling. Tap into that reservoir of belonging and deep safety that live at your center.
